Stoke City Stoke City Football Club is a football club from Stoke-on-Trent in England. Stoke was founded in 1863, making it the oldest club in the Premier League and the second oldest football club in the world, after Notts County. The club was one of 12 who formed the Football League in 1888.

Stokes first major success was in the 1972 round of the English League Cup, when they beat Chelsea 2-1. The club has won the Football League Trophy on two occasions, first in 1992 and later in 2000.
